Purpose of Tool Management
Why do we need a tool database?
Higher Productivity
A concise documentation of your machine tools avoids misunderstandings, queries and errors in the production process. A high degree of production quality requires thorough work preparation and error-free production cycles. As opposed to conventional documentation on paper, WinTool provides every workplace with accurate, up-to-date tool information and best practice know-how.
Reliable Operating Cycles
The tool documentation is necessary to ensure correct information flow between the purchasing, work preparation, tool crib, and production departments, particularly in the absence of qualified personnel. Due to detailed supplier information with WinTool even inexperienced employees are able to purchase tools correctly, quickly, and therefore cost-effectively. By gathering good cutting parameters and pointing out the preferred tools, you acquire know-how for best practice and economical use of the tools. WinTool management also enhances minimal setup times.
Cost Reduction
You can restrict the diversity of items on stock and reduce tool stock level by classifying your tools. In WinTool you can classify tool items as 'preferred' to filter and find them easily so that you can promote their use in favor of lesser preferred tools. By restricting the tool diversity, you are reducing overhead costs for purchasing, maximizing supplier discounts as well as acquiring experience.
Up-to-date Information
The integrated, uniform structure of the catalogs issued by different manufacturers ensures optimal conditions for the selection of new types of tool and the evaluation of different versions. You can directly use the manufacturer catalog data to assemble tools, generate assembly drawings, get an assembly item list, and check it out to your NC-program.
Quick Build-up of Your Tool Library (Company Tool Database)
You can directly copy components from a manufacturer catalog to your user catalog and quickly build your own tool database. With the optional WinTool DXF-Generator you can modify and generate your tool component drawings automatically.
Innovation
After going productive with WinTool you can take advantage of your previous experiences and improvements. You can identify how tools have been used in previous jobs using the Reference List (see 'Print format'). You can also manage centrally standardized tool assembly numbers and comments.
Secure Investment
The open data structure and the integrated interfaces ensure that you can use the recorded data in other software packages. For this purpose you do not need expensive database specialists (DBA's) because the data can be accessed and edited easily with Microsoft Access or SQL Server software.
Tool Management
WinTool manages all the content data. Logistical and stock data will be managed in the 'storage application' (WinTool Plus), which can be accessed from all main application windows.
